There is no problem in the world which only affects 1 person. Every problem will have multiple stakeholders involved or affected by it. The stakeholder map helps us identify various people and agencies associated to the problem and how close they are to it.

Draw 3 circles of different sizes and overlay them on the same midpoint. At the middle mention the user affected the most of the problem.

Each circle represents how close the stakeholders are to the main problem, i.e primary, secondary and tertiary.

Start placing the stakeholders on the map.

How did I use it?
This tool came in handy for the research phase of my MA Strategic Design 1st semester. The project was related to climate change and as a team(3 members) we were able to collect huge amount of data on the subject, requirement, client and target group.
By mapping each stakeholder involved in the problem we were tasked to solve, it became easier to establish focus on certain topics of importance.
